Our Psychologist
Dr Hajah Nor Irlenwati Binti Haji Ismail
Dr Hajah Nor Irlenwati Haji Ismail is a Consultant Educational Psychologist at In Mind Psychology. She is also a registered Psychologist with Allied Health Professions Council of Brunei Darussalam (AHPCBD) and British Psychological Society (BPS). She has 10 years of experience working as an Educational Psychologist for the Ministry of Education under Special Education Department. She has a vast amount of experience working with children and young adults, with a wide range of special needs, as well as with their families and teachers.

Her career in education began in 2000 when she taught English Language and AS/A Level Psychology before training as an Educational Psychologist at University of Exeter, United Kingdom. As part of her professional training, she worked as a Trainee Educational Psychologist at Exeter City Council (2008) and London Borough of Southwark (2009-2011).
She obtained her Professional Doctorate (DEdPsych in Child, Community and Educational Psychology) from University of Exeter which qualifies her to be a Chartered Educational Psychologist with British Psychological Society (BPS).
Her main areas of interests are developing and standardising Psychoeducational assessments suitable for Brunei contexts. Her doctoral thesis focused on developing a modified Phonological Assessment Battery (PhAB) to identify students with poor phonological skills whose first language is Malay Language. This work has provided the basis for future intervention to improve reading difficulties amongst Bruneian children
